Presidential historian Allan Lichtman predicts that Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris will win the 2024 election.

Lichtman has correctly predicted nearly every presidential race since 1984. The New York Times was first to report Lichtman’s projection, which isn’t influenced by political polling. Instead, Lichtman uses a model centered on “13 true-or-false questions.”

Allan Lichtman, the American political historian known as the “Nostradamus of presidential predictions”, has officially declared that Kamala Harris will win this year’s race for the White House.

“Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States,” Lichtman said in a video for The New York Times on Thursday.

The professor, who has taught at the American University in Washington DC since 1973, has correctly called the winner of nine out of the last 10 US presidential races over the last 40 years – he did not foresee George W Bush narrowly beating Al Gore in 2000 and also wrongly believed Donald Trump would take the popular vote in 2016 but has otherwise been unerring.

Former President Donald Trump is gaining ground on Vice President Kamala Harris less than a week before the presidential candidates are set to tangle in their first debate, according to results of a new poll.

A national poll released by Emerson College on Thursday shows that Harris is preferred by 49.4 percent of likely voters, while Trump is favored by 46.9 percent. In an iteration of the same poll released on August 15, Harris was leading Trump by 49.8 percent to 45.5 percent.
